Finance Minister SBY's Replacement Visits IKN, Basuki's Unexpected Response
The Nusantara Capital City (IKN) project in East Kalimantan has become a strong magnet for Indonesians and foreigners alike to visit. Not just ordinary citizens, but officials and ambassadors are also coming.
One of those who had the opportunity to visit IKN directly is Agus Martowardojo. Agus is the former Finance Minister during President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s era from 2010-2013. He also held the position of Governor of Bank Indonesia from 2013-2018.
Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) Basuki Hadimuljono had the chance to welcome Agus’s arrival in IKN.
“A pleasant day receiving a visit from an old friend, Mr Agus Martowardojo, in Nusantara,” Basuki stated, quoted from his Instagram social media account @basukihadimuljono, Wednesday (15/4/2026).
Basuki recounted that he and Agus discussed mainly the progress of IKN’s development. He also invited Agus to tour IKN, such as visiting the State Palace.
“We discussed at the OIKN Office about the development progress, continued by touring the State Palace area in the afternoon, and closed with a warm reception at the Nusantara Veranda in the evening,” he explained.
At the end of his statement, Basuki expressed thanks to Agus for stopping by and seeing IKN’s condition directly.
“It’s always special to show the face of Nusantara directly to a senior who has long contributed to the nation. Thank you, Mr Agus Martowardojo, for visiting Nusantara; feel free to drop by again next time,” Basuki said.
