Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has stated that the financing mechanism for disaster management in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) will be carried out through the budget available at the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

“For the first stage, we usually use funds from BNPB that we have already prepared. There is still around Rp5 trillion, if I am not mistaken. Some of it may have been used, but it is still sufficient,” Purbaya said in Jakarta on Monday.

According to Purbaya, disaster management is carried out in stages, beginning with the emergency response using the budget that has been prepared.

Should financing needs increase, the government will adjust budget support to ensure that disaster management can proceed.

Purbaya also mentioned that the government has standby funds to support disaster management. The availability of these funds allows the government to provide financing responses according to needs on the ground.

“So indeed, on-call funds for every disaster response are already on standby,” he said.

Furthermore, the Finance Minister stated that financing support will be provided by taking into account disaster management needs as well as coordination mechanisms between agencies.

Specifically for the reconstruction of public facilities that cannot be financed through BNPB, implementation will need to be coordinated with the relevant ministries and agencies.

With the financing support that has been prepared, the government is ensuring that disaster management and the recovery process for affected communities can continue to run in a coordinated manner between the central government, regional governments, BNPB, ministries and agencies, and other relevant parties.

The Ministry of Finance is also ready to ensure that the financing aspect can support the government’s efforts in post-disaster management and recovery in NTT, carried out according to needs and the applicable budgeting mechanisms.
