Finance Minister Reaffirms Commitment to State Budget Support for 'Sekolah Rakyat' Program
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting human resource development through financial backing from the State Budget (APBN). This affirmation was made during a site visit to the Integrated ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ 2 in Surabaya, East Java, on Saturday.
“One of the Ministry of Finance’s duties is to ensure budget availability so that the programme can run optimally,” the Finance Minister stated, as quoted from a written statement received in Jakarta on Saturday.
During the visit, the Minister reminded that ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ is one of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes, aimed at expanding access to quality education for Indonesian children. The Minister expressed hope that the learning opportunities provided through the programme would equip students for a better future and enhance social mobility through education.
The visit also served as an opportunity for the Minister to directly observe the implementation of state budget usage in supporting educational provision. The Minister’s presence underscores that education financing represents a long-term government investment in producing a superior generation towards ‘Indonesia Emas 2045’.
Integrated ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ 2 in Surabaya was built on a 6.6-hectare site with a construction contract value of Rp3.52 trillion and a total budget ceiling of Rp3.82 trillion. To date, the realised construction budget has reached Rp3.21 trillion.
The school is designed with an integrated education concept, combining Primary (SD), Junior High (SMP), and Senior High (SMA) levels within a single educational zone. In addition to academic activities, students reside in dormitories equipped with various facilities to support the learning process and character building.
Through the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ programme, the government aims not only to provide access to quality education for children from families in need but also to build hope for a smart, competitive generation capable of becoming the nation’s future leaders.
