Finance Minister Purbaya Visits BGN Head Following Viral New Motorcycles for SPPG MBG
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has stated that he directly visited the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, to trace the budget used for procuring new motorcycles for SPPG MBG operations, which had gone viral on social media.
From the meeting, Purbaya said that Dadan confirmed the budget for the new operational motorcycles for the SPPG head came from the 2025 fiscal year, which had already been partially absorbed.
“I asked the Head of BGN earlier. But you can check with him again. He said it was indeed last year’s budget that had already been disbursed. But for this year, he confirmed there are no new electric motorcycle purchases for the programme,” Purbaya said at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
Purbaya also emphasised that, despite this, the budget for procuring the new motorcycles for SPPG MBG operations had already undergone screening. This means only a portion was spent, and not the entire amount requested by BGN was approved. However, he did not disclose the value of the budget absorbed for the new SPPG electric motorcycles.
“A portion has already been disbursed. The remaining portion was rejected. So it was limited,” Purbaya stated.
Previously, BGN Head Dadan Hindayana had also confirmed that the vehicle procurement was part of the 2025 budget planning and was intended to support the mobility of the Head of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in the field.
“This motorcycle procurement is indeed included in the 2025 budget. Its function is to support the operational needs of the SPPG Head,” he said, quoted on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
He also clarified the widely circulated information regarding the number of units, which was said to reach 70,000. According to him, that figure is incorrect.
“The information about 70,000 units is not true. The total realisation of electric motorcycles is 21,801 units out of 25,000 units ordered in 2025,” he emphasised.
Along with this clarification, it was revealed that the motorcycles in question are suspected to be products from the Emmo brand, which is relatively new in the Indonesian electric vehicle market. In fact, the industrial design for these motorcycles was only registered in 2025, adding to public attention on this project.
The two models said to be used are the trail type and the automatic scooter. The trail model is designed to reach areas with difficult terrain, while the scooter type is more intended for daily use in urban areas.
In terms of price, according to its official website, both motorcycles are in the range of Rp48 million to Rp56 million per unit.
The circulating specifications show that the trail motorcycle has a top speed of up to 80 km per hour with a range of about 70 km on a single charge. Meanwhile, its carrying capacity and high ground clearance are claimed to support use on various road conditions.
Nevertheless, to date, these motorcycles have not yet been distributed to end users. Dadan explained that all units must still go through administrative processes as State Goods (BMN) before they can be officially used.
“The motorcycles have not been distributed. Once everything is complete, they will first be recorded as BMN before distribution,” he explained.
