Finance Minister Purbaya to Undertake Hajj on 21 May

Jakarta — Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said he plans to undertake the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca on Thursday, 21 May 2026, if there are no obstacles. ‘Thursday, 21 May 2026, if there are no obstacles,’ Purbaya told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Monday, 18 May 2026. He said he has been preparing for the pilgrimage for the past two weeks and is still learning the prayers for the Hajj. ‘The preparations for Hajj have been two weeks in the making; I’ve been learning the prayers, though I still forget some,’ he said. He added that he plans to perform the Hajj for 10 days. ‘10 days,’ he said briefly. Earlier, Purbaya attended a limited meeting (ratas) with several ministers of the economy, chaired by President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Monday afternoon.
