Finance Minister Purbaya to Meet BI Board of Governors After Perry Warjiyo's Resignation

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa will hold a special meeting with the board of governors of Bank Indonesia, after Perry Warjiyo stepped down from his post as BI Governor on Saturday (25 July 2026).

“There will likely be a meeting with BI later,” said Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance Robert Leonard Marbun at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Jakarta on Monday (27 July 2026).

As chair of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK), Purbaya is scheduled to meet with Bank Indonesia’s board of governors today, although the details of the time and venue are still being arranged.

Robert said that Purbaya had also heard about Perry’s resignation, but added that the minister obtained the information from today’s news coverage.

“From the news only,” said Robert, adding that Purbaya has no plans to comment on Perry’s resignation today.

As is widely known, Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo decided to resign from his position effective Saturday (25 July 2026).

His resignation letter has been submitted to President Prabowo Subianto.

In Bank Indonesia’s official statement, Perry’s resignation from the post of BI Governor was voluntary and due to personal reasons.

“Mr Perry Warjiyo’s resignation from the post of Governor of Bank Indonesia was voluntary and due to personal reasons,” the statement read, quoted on Monday (27 July 2026).

In accordance with Article 48 paragraph (1) letter (a) of Law No. 23 of 1999 on Bank Indonesia, as most recently amended by Law No. 4 of 2026 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (the BI Law), the Board of Governors, at its meeting on 26 July 2026, appointed Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti as Acting Governor pursuant to Article 50 paragraph (2) of the BI Law.
