Finance Minister Purbaya to Dismiss Two Ministry Officials to Address Restitution Issues
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa plans to dismiss two officials in the Ministry of Finance as an effort to address issues with tax restitution disbursements.
Purbaya revealed that he has investigated five officials involved in restitution management. Of those five, he has decided to dismiss two.
“I investigated five officials who issued the highest amounts of restitution. Today, I will dismiss two,” Purbaya told reporters during a media briefing at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Monday.
However, he did not disclose the names of the officials to be dismissed.
The Finance Minister only explained that his investigation stemmed from findings regarding the value of tax restitution disbursements for the 2025 fiscal year that did not match the reports he received.
Initially, he received reports from his staff that tax restitution values were quite low. However, at the end of the fiscal year, he found that the disbursement values had surged several times over the information he received.
“So, that’s what we will fix. There must not be any misinformation again,” said Purbaya.
His decision to dismiss the related officials is also a form of firm action against the deviations that occurred within the Ministry of Finance institution. He hopes that with this sanction, officials in the Ministry of Finance will carry out their duties as per the mandates received and avoid fraudulent practices.
“The message is, when there is such an instruction, carry it out properly. Don’t go overboard. Going overboard means not reporting developments accurately,” he stated.
Previously, Purbaya dismissed two director generals, which he described as part of the routine employee rotation policy in the Ministry of Finance.
The two director generals in question were Febrio Nathan Kacaribu, who previously served as Director General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy (DJSEF), and Luky Alfirman as Director General of Budget.
“That’s just a normal process, rotated every few years. So, there’s nothing special about it,” said Purbaya to reporters in Jakarta on Friday (24/4).
When confirmed regarding allegations of internal conflicts, Purbaya did not deny that organisational dynamics were one of the factors influencing his decision, though the portion was relatively small.
“Yes and no. Yes, there’s a little (influence from internal conflicts), but that’s not all. There are other things,” he said.
During his tenure, Purbaya has also been active in rotating Ministry of Finance employees as part of institutional improvements.
Most recently, he inaugurated five new echelon II officials spread across the General Secretariat, Directorate General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy (DJSEF), Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN), and Directorate General of Financial Sector Stability and Development (DJSPSK).
