Finance Minister Purbaya Threatens to Cut Budgets of Institutions Hindering Investment
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has stated that his office will take firm action against ministries, agencies, and regional governments that do not implement the decisions of the Debottlenecking Task Force in resolving investment obstacles. He explained that the government formed the Debottlenecking Task Force to accelerate the resolution of various hurdles faced by investors, making all decisions produced by the task force mandatory for relevant institutions. “This process is directly monitored by the President, so every decision that has been established must be implemented,” Purbaya said during a meeting with business actors and investors from the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Indonesia (KOCHAM Indonesia) in Jakarta on Friday. “I currently serve as Finance Minister. If any regional government or ministry deviates from the Debottlenecking Task Force’s decisions, I will cut their budget,” he stated. Purbaya noted that all business actors have equal access to report investment obstacles to the Debottlenecking Task Force, and these reports will be discussed weekly to expedite solutions. On the same occasion, Purbaya also encouraged investors not to hesitate in placing capital in Indonesia, assuring them that the national economic fundamentals remain robust with sustained economic growth. “Therefore, Indonesia is the right country for investment.
