Jakarta — Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has stated that he will request a bonus from President Prabowo Subianto if public welfare improves sufficiently to push Indonesia’s tax ratio to 11%.

Purbaya made the statement during the inauguration of Finance Ministry officials at Dhanapala Hall on Tuesday, 10 March 2026. “If welfare is good, let’s say a tax ratio of 11%, I will ask the country’s leader for a bonus,” said Purbaya.

Indonesia’s tax ratio in 2025 declined to approximately 9.31% of GDP, down from 10.08% in the previous year. This result fell short of the initial target projected above 10%, reaching a low of 8.58% in the third quarter of 2025 due to economic slowdown.

Purbaya is committed to boosting the Indonesian economy this year to increase tax revenue. To this end, he will activate all economic mechanisms under the Finance Ministry’s control. “Going forward, we will activate all economic mechanisms under Finance Ministry control so we can accelerate growth again,” he said.
