Finance Minister Purbaya Says Impact of Pertamax Price Hike Minimal as It Is Not Used by Freight Transport

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has stated that the impact of the non-subsidised fuel price hike for Pertamax on inflation should be relatively minimal. “It should be relatively minimal because Pertamax isn’t used for freight transport,” Purbaya said at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday.

Purbaya then addressed the potential effect of the increase on the consumption of Pertalite in the field, but deferred to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, for detailed answers. “Ask Mr Bahlil, there must be another method. Nozzle control, if I’m not mistaken; ask Mr Bahlil, he’s the one who understands,” he said. “It should be limited because it’s not for public transport, and freight transport doesn’t use Pertamax,” Purbaya reiterated regarding the inflationary impact.

Pertamina Patra Niaga adjusted the selling price of non-subsidised fuel for Pertamax and Pertamax Green products starting Wednesday, 10 June. The price of Pertamax (RON 92) has increased to Rp 16,250 per litre, and Pertamax Green 95 (RON 95) has risen to Rp 17,000 per litre. This price adjustment was decided after coordination with the government as the regulator and is carried out in accordance with a periodic evaluation mechanism that considers global oil price developments and market-based economic prices.

Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Roberth MV Dumatubun, explained that the non-subsidised fuel price adjustment follows existing regulations and is part of energy governance implementation aimed at maintaining a balance between business sustainability, service quality, and the certainty of energy supply for the public. “The price adjustment for Pertamax and Pertamax Green was made after an evaluation process in accordance with the price formula set by the government,” Roberth stated in a press release on Tuesday.

The list of non-subsidised fuel prices effective at Pertamina petrol stations from 10 June 2026 shows Pertamax (RON 92) moving from Rp 12,300 to Rp 16,250 per litre, and Pertamax Green 95 (RON 95) from Rp 12,900 to Rp 17,000 per litre. Pertamax Turbo (RON 98) remains at Rp 20,750 per litre. Dexlite (CN 51) stays at Rp 23,000 per litre, and Pertamina Dex (CN 53) remains at Rp 24,800 per litre. Subsidised fuel prices remain unchanged, with Pertalite at Rp 10,000 per litre and Biosolar at Rp 6,800 per litre.
