Beijing (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has revealed that the Chinese government’s trust in Indonesia remains intact, despite having some complaints about certain Indonesian policies. “The Chinese government has great trust and is very supportive. From the discussions with them, the talks were interesting, very constructive, and demonstrated China’s trust, and our trust in the Chinese government is equally strong,” Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa told ANTARA in Beijing on Thursday evening. This was conveyed by Purbaya after meetings with Chinese Finance Minister Lan Fo’an, as well as parties from China’s central bank, the People’s Bank of China (PBOC), the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and investors during an official visit to China from 16 to 19 June 2026. “Both countries are equally enthusiastic about elevating the relationship to an even closer level. Nevertheless, they also raised questions about the actual conditions in Indonesia, which I was certainly able to explain and assure them that there are no problems with the economic fundamentals,” Purbaya stated. “This has already been addressed by President Prabowo, and President Prabowo will improve the investment climate so that the Chinese government and investors can conduct business fairly in Indonesia. So the President understands the obstacles to doing business in Indonesia and these are being rectified,” Purbaya added. Purbaya stressed that the government understands the issues and complaints raised by Chinese business actors and is working to improve conditions on the ground. “We actually already understand the problems and have been fixing them, but as it happens, regarding the unresolved complaints, they sent them to us. The President and we have followed up well. It is just that some matters require time to return to a level that facilitates some Chinese entrepreneurs, although we have swiftly improved most of them,” he explained.
