Finance Minister Purbaya Meets Chinese Counterpart to Strengthen Financing Strategy
Indonesian Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa conducted a bilateral meeting with Chinese Finance Minister Lan Fo’an as part of the government’s strategy to strengthen access to financing. The bilateral meeting also aimed to broaden the investor base and deepen economic partnerships with strategic partner countries. “Indonesia is not waiting. We are moving early by building a strong and sustainable financing foundation so that development can continue amidst various global challenges,” Purbaya said in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. He stated that the visit to Beijing was part of a long-term financing strategy that had been carefully planned by the government. “This is part of planning that was arranged well in advance. The government continues to execute its financing strategy in a measured, disciplined, and long-term oriented manner,” he added. Purbaya stressed that Indonesia’s economic fundamentals remain strong. This condition is reflected in the government’s controlled debt ratio, a budget deficit within safe limits, and economic growth that remains maintained. “We came to Beijing because Indonesia has a strong position to build mutually beneficial cooperation. When the economic foundation is solid, we have room to act more strategically and with greater confidence,” he continued. The Finance Minister noted that this is evident in the high investor interest in government financial instruments and the national macroeconomic stability that has been preserved amidst global uncertainty. “Market confidence is not built overnight. It is the result of fiscal discipline, consistent reforms, and policy credibility that the government continues to uphold. Because of this, Indonesia remains an attractive investment destination in the region,” he said.
