Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has explained the reason behind the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) not announcing the status of the financial system stability (SSK) during the press conference following the committee’s quarterly meeting for the first quarter of 2026. He stated that the report on the current periodic SSK status is only submitted by the committee to the President. “The status is only reported to the President,” said Purbaya after the press conference on the KSSK quarterly meeting in Jakarta on Thursday (7/5/2026). Nevertheless, he emphasised that the current SSK status remains stable. Although the committee’s focus is on monitoring the spillover effects of global economic uncertainty due to the conflict in the Middle East between Iran, the United States (US), and Israel, “Stability is still maintained,” he asserted. During the press conference on the KSSK quarterly meeting for Q1 2026, Purbaya noted that entering April 2026, the dynamics of resolving the Middle East conflict continue to be the main factor in global financial market volatility, particularly the surge in energy prices. Based on these developments, the KSSK—comprising the Finance Minister, Governor of Bank Indonesia, Chairman of the Financial Services Authority Board of Commissioners, and Chairman of the Deposit Insurance Corporation Board of Commissioners—will continue to monitor and conduct forward-looking assessments of the current economic performance and financial sector amid increasing global economic uncertainty risks. “While simultaneously undertaking coordinated mitigation efforts, both among KSSK member institutions and with other ministries or agencies,” Purbaya added.
