Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa estimates that Indonesia’s economic growth will reach around 5.4-5.5% in the second quarter of 2026, lower than the first quarter’s achievement of 5.61%.

According to Purbaya, he is confident that growth in the third and fourth quarters will be faster. He stated this is supported by sufficient liquidity in the Indonesian economic system.

“Yesterday it was 5.6%. Perhaps the second quarter will be 5.4-5.5%. What I know is that the second half, the third quarter, the fourth quarter will grow even faster,” Purbaya explained at his office on Thursday (23/7/2026).

“We ensure there is enough money in the economic system to drive the economy,” he added.

On this occasion, he also confirmed that fiscal management remains prudent. He dismissed claims from certain parties suggesting the government’s fiscal management was reckless.

He cited the recent Panda Bond issuance, which received an AAA rating from China Lianhe Credit Rating in early July 2026, as proof of sound management. The government issued the Panda Bond on Thursday (23/7/2026), and enthusiasm from the Chinese market was significant. The yuan-denominated instrument was oversubscribed, with demand reaching IDR 45 trillion, approximately 2.4 times the offer. The government only took IDR 18.55 trillion, equivalent to around USD 1 billion, from this issuance.
