Finance Minister Purbaya Dismisses Two Directors General from Ministry of Finance, Febrio and Luky Depart

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has dismissed Director General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy Febrio Nathan Kacaribu and Director General of Budgeting Luky Alfirman. Their positions are now filled by acting officials.

“Yes. Acting officials (Pelaksana Harian) have already been appointed,” said Purbaya when confirmed at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy office in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/4/2026).

The appointment of acting officials took effect from Tuesday afternoon (21/4/2026). This step was taken to ensure the organisation’s operations continue smoothly while awaiting permanent officials.

“So acting officials have been appointed now; it was already active yesterday afternoon (Tuesday),” he continued.

In addition to those two positions, the position of Director General of Financial Sector Stability and Development remains unfilled on a permanent basis. That role is currently held by Acting Director Herman Saheruddin.

Purbaya stated that three names for permanent officials will be submitted to President Prabowo Subianto. The submission is scheduled for early to mid-May.

“They will be submitted to the President at once. So all at once in early May or mid-May,” Purbaya explained.

Febrio Nathan Kacaribu is known as an economist. He was born in Sidikalang, North Sumatra, in 1978.

He obtained a Master of International and Development Economics from the Australian National University in 2005. He earned a doctorate in economics from the University of Kansas, United States, in 2014.

He entered government service in 2020 as Head of the Fiscal Policy Agency of the Ministry of Finance. He was then inaugurated as Director General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy on 23 May 2025.
