Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa admitted that he only recently learned the details of the electric motorcycle procurement at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). He explained that the procurement was part of the previous year’s budget. He added that his side only became aware of the details after the budget had already been implemented. However, upon learning about it, they immediately took action by halting the continuation of the procurement. “We only found out later; the budget has already been cut. I need to check with the Director General of Budget again,” Purbaya said at the Presidential Palace Complex, quoted on Thursday, 9 April 2026. Regarding the implementation that has already taken place, Purbaya mentioned that some units of electric motorcycles have indeed been received because the procurement process originated from the previous year’s budget. “Yes, last year’s budget. There is none this year. At that time, it might have slipped through, so we stopped it,” he explained. He also assured that there will be no more purchases of new electric motorcycles for the BGN programme this year. “Clearly, there will be none this year. We ensure there are none this year,” he concluded. Motorcycles Priced Below Market The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, stated that the price of one electric motorcycle unit purchased for the Head of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) is Rp42 million. Dadan emphasised that this price is far below the current market price of Rp52 million. “The market price is Rp52 million, but we bought it, if I’m not mistaken, for Rp42 million, below the market price,” Dadan told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 8 April 2026. Dadan explained the urgency of purchasing electric motorcycles for the operational needs of the Head of SPPG to reach difficult areas. For example, he said, villages and areas that can only be accessed by motorcycle. “Yes, this programme reaches areas that will be very difficult. Reaching villages and areas that can only be accessed by motorcycle. That is to support operations,” he stated. Electric Motorcycle Procurement Included in 2025 Budget Dadan explained that the procurement of these motorcycles was part of the 2025 budget planning and is intended to support the operations of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG), particularly for the Head of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG).
