Finance Minister Purbaya Considers Incentives for Capital Market

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is considering providing incentives to the capital market industry if it manages to show improvements in the next six months. This consideration responds to the Planned and Periodic Investment Programme (PINTAR) for Mutual Funds by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). “If the programme runs well, for example in six months from now, you can come to me and ask for incentives. I will consider it,” Purbaya said at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) in Jakarta on Monday. Purbaya believes the OJK’s PINTAR Mutual Funds initiative is a positive step that can deepen the capital market. The Finance Minister assesses that the strategy will encourage more domestic investors to participate in the capital market. If the strategy succeeds, Purbaya is convinced that the positive impact will also accelerate the performance of the national economy. “I am interested in the financial sector. Money from there (capital market) can be used to buy bonds and so on. That will also run the economy in the end. Perhaps I lose a little rupiah, but in the end there is additional money that can move the economy,” Purbaya explained.
