Finance Minister Purbaya Comments on Accelerated OJK Board Commissioner Selection
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has stated that the Selection Committee (Pansel) of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Board of Commissioners is accelerating the selection process for prospective commissioners. This measure has been taken due to unstable financial market conditions resulting from conflict in the Middle East.
“It’s been accelerated because the situation is volatile. The turmoil from the war is affecting markets and influencing oil prices. There is a need for definitive leadership at the OJK more quickly,” said Purbaya when met at his office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
Purbaya explained that the accelerated selection is being conducted to ensure that leadership positions at the OJK are filled definitively amid increasing global economic dynamics.
Based on OJK Selection Committee Announcement Number PENG-2/PANSEL-DKOJK/2026, candidates were originally scheduled to undergo direct assessment on 10 or 11 March 2026. However, the Chairman of Commission XI of the House of Representatives, Mukhamad Misbakhun, announced that ten candidates who passed the selection will undergo a fit and proper test on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
On the same day, Commission XI of the House will also make a decision regarding five names to fill vacant positions on the OJK Board of Commissioners.
Purbaya, who also serves as Chairman of the OJK Selection Panel, denied that the acceleration of the selection process was due to the government having predetermined certain candidates. According to him, the selection process remains staged before final appointment, going through the President before then being submitted to the House of Representatives for fit and proper testing.
Previously, the selection committee for choosing replacement members of the OJK Board of Commissioners announced 20 names that passed administrative selection. This list is contained in Announcement Number PENG-2/PANSEL-DKOJK/2026.

All prospective replacement OJK Board of Commissioners members who have passed administrative selection are required to undergo the next selection phase consisting of public input, background checks, assessment, medical examination, and interviews.
Medical examination will be conducted on Monday, 9 March 2026. Subsequently, assessment will be conducted on Tuesday, 10 March or Wednesday, 11 March 2026. Interviews will be conducted from Wednesday, 25 March to Thursday, 26 March 2026.
