Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has assured that there will be no re-examination of assets already declared by taxpayers participating in the Voluntary Asset Disclosure Programme (PPS), or Tax Amnesty Phase II.

His statement aims to clarify information regarding examinations of PPS participants previously conveyed by Director General of Taxation Bimo Wijayanto.

“Fundamentally, what has already been covered by tax amnesty will not be dug into further. Going forward, they only need to pay according to their business activities, as per normal business developments,” Purbaya stated during a media briefing at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Monday.

He urged tax amnesty participants not to overinterpret media reports and to continue fulfilling their tax obligations as they have been doing.

Additionally, he plans to ensure that tax policy announcements can only be made by the Finance Minister to reduce confusion over tax information.

“So, in the future, only I will announce tax policies, not the Directorate General of Taxation (DJP) anymore. To eliminate confusion, Taxation is merely the executor; I am the one who decides and implements the policies,” he said.

Moving forward, Purbaya has no intention of introducing a new tax amnesty. Indonesia has already implemented tax amnesty twice, in 2016 and 2022.

He prefers to adhere to the applicable tax procedures.

“During my tenure as Finance Minister, I will not conduct a tax amnesty,” he affirmed.
