Finance Minister Purbaya Appoints Robert Leonard Marbun as Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa inaugurated Robert Leonard Marbun as Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Ministry of Finance on Friday. Robert replaces Heru Pambudi, who previously served as Sekjen of the Ministry of Finance since 2021. “As the Finance Minister, I hereby officially appoint you (Robert) to your new position within the Ministry of Finance. I trust that you will carry out your duties to the best of your ability, in accordance with the responsibilities entrusted to you,” said Purbaya during the inauguration ceremony at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Friday. Robert’s appointment as a high-ranking official of the Ministry of Finance is based on Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 24/TPA/2026, signed by President Prabowo Subianto on 16 March 2026. Purbaya assessed that Robert possesses the experience and competence to fulfil the role of Sekjen of the Ministry of Finance. “If we look at Mr Robert Leonard Marbun, he also comes with a strong foundation. He has a comprehensive academic background, from international relations to economics. In terms of career as well, he has experience in supervision and law enforcement. He has led regions, worked in international functions, and handled state revenue policy,” he stated. He added that this track record reflects capabilities in the field, policy formulation, and cross-functional coordination. This is considered crucial, given that the position of Sekjen demands a comprehensive understanding of operations, policy, and the ability to synergise various units within the organisation, said the Finance Minister.
