The government noted global investor interest in Indonesian government bonds remains high despite economic and financial market volatility worldwide. This is seen as a strong signal that international market participants still have confidence in Indonesia’s economic fundamentals.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa made the remarks at the Jogja Financial Festival (JFF) 2026 at the Jogja Expo Center (JEC) in Yogyakarta on Friday, 22 May 2026.

According to Purbaya, Indonesia’s global bond issuance continues to receive positive responses from investors despite global market volatility driven by high economic and geopolitical uncertainties.

“Our global bonds remain in demand as investors see Indonesia’s economic foundation as strong and credible,” said the Finance Minister.

He stated that the nation’s economic fundamentals remain well-maintained. Indonesia’s economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 reached 5.61%, supported by household consumption, investment, and accelerated government spending.

“The economy’s engines are now both running—the government and private sector machines—and we will continue this momentum moving forward,” he said.

The government also ensures the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) is managed carefully and effectively to sustain economic growth momentum while maintaining fiscal health.

As of April 2026, the APBN deficit remained controlled at 0.64% of gross domestic product (GDP).

“The deficit has not increased, but our economic growth is outpacing projections. This allows us to manage the budget more efficiently and ensure the private sector thrives further,” Purbaya said.
