Finance Minister Confident 2026 Revenue Target Will Be Met as Coretax System Prevents Tax Evasion
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is confident the 2026 national revenue target will be achieved as the performance of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) and Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DGCE) improves. He said the improvement in revenue collection has become evident following government restructuring of the DGT and DGCE. ‘It seems the target for this year (2026) will be good. Customs performance will also be strong, so we have already seen the results of the restructuring in taxes and customs,’ he said on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
This performance has been enhanced by technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), which supports efficiency and optimisation of national revenue.
He highlighted the implementation of the Coretax system, which is showing positive results despite some taxpayer complaints. ‘It should be more efficient. Coretax was previously widely criticised, and there are still some complaints, but they have reduced. However, Coretax has significantly boosted tax revenue because everything is calculated almost automatically. So, taxpayers can’t evade,’ he said.
The 2026 national revenue target in the State Budget (APBN) is set at Rp3.1536 trillion. As of April 2026, actual national revenue reached Rp918.4 trillion, a 13.3% year-on-year increase.
