Finance Minister: Central Government Spending Reaches Rp826 Trillion as of April

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa reported that central government spending reached Rp826 trillion as of 30 April 2026, equivalent to 26.2 per cent of the State Budget (APBN) target of Rp3,149.7 trillion. This realisation represents a growth of 51.1 per cent compared to last year’s realisation of Rp546.7 trillion.

“We want to ensure that government spending is distributed evenly throughout the year,” said Purbaya during the APBN KiTa May 2026 press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.

In detail, spending by ministries and agencies (K/L) realised Rp400.5 trillion, or 26.5 per cent of the allocated Rp1,510.5 trillion budget. One component of this spending is personnel expenditure, which reached Rp126.9 trillion, or 35.4 per cent of the APBN, growing by 24.4 per cent.

The performance of personnel expenditure was supported by the appointment of 355,000 new civil servants (ASN), the distribution of holiday allowances (THR) for ASN/TNI/Polri, pensions, and the acceleration of allowance payments for non-civil servant educators.

Furthermore, goods expenditure reached Rp164.2 trillion, or 23.3 per cent of the APBN, surging by 130 per cent. The increase in goods expenditure was primarily driven by the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, which accounted for Rp73.8 trillion of the total realisation, biodiesel incentives of Rp9.2 trillion, and the distribution of School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds amounting to Rp4.8 trillion.
