Final try out for sepak takraw

JAKARTA (JP): The national sepak takraw team will leave for
Thailand tomorrow for a series of friendly matches which serve as
the final try out prior to the Asian Games in Hiroshima, Japan in
October.

Coach Aris Medeng said yesterday that during the Aug. 20-29
overseas stint, his team of six is tipped to tackle the Thai
national squad. Aris will then shortlist four out of the six
players to form the national team for the Games, based on their
performances during the outing.

"We will learn a lot from Thailand's big serving players,"
said Aris. The national sepak takraw body (Persetasi) had earlier
planned to stretch the overseas program to Myanmar, but it was
canceled due to financial shortcomings. (amd)
