Final Message from Selvina, Missing Passenger of KMP Putri Yasmin from Sumba
Feri and Delsi broke down in tears at the ASDP Padangbai office in Karangasem, Bali, on Thursday (13/8/2026). They are still waiting for news of their relative, Selvina Rambu Mayi (29), a resident of West Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), who has yet to be found after the KMP Putri Yasmin caught fire in the Lombok Strait on Wednesday (12/8/2026).
Feri and Delsi occasionally glanced at their mobile phones, hoping for information about Selvina’s whereabouts. Their tears flowed incessantly.
“My cousin (Selvina) was heading to her hometown (West Sumba) to arrange a traditional wedding,” Feri said on Thursday.
Selvina departed for West Sumba with her fiancé. The couple had been planning to marry in the near future. Selvina’s fiancé is known to have survived the ship fire incident.
When the fire broke out, Selvina managed to send a video to the family WhatsApp group, informing them of the panicked conditions on board. She also asked her family to pray for her as she intended to jump into the sea with other passengers.
“I was asleep when she sent the video. I only found out the next morning, but her number could no longer be reached,” Feri said.
Upon receiving the news, Feri contacted family members in Sumba and asked them to go to Lembar Port to seek information. However, as of Thursday, there has been no news regarding Selvina’s whereabouts.
“Currently, other family members are still waiting at Lembar Port, while I am here (Padangbai). I hope my cousin is found soon,” Feri hoped.
Meanwhile, Delsi, Selvina’s younger sister, was unable to speak much about her sister. Her tears continued to flow as she waited for news. She described Selvina as a hardworking figure who was the backbone of the family.
“I can only pray that my sister is found soon and in a safe condition,” Delsi hoped.
Separately, the Acting Head of the Padangbai Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP), Heri Wijayanto, stated that his office, together with relevant agencies, is still operating a post at Padangbai Port. Several families of passengers are also still waiting at the port to obtain certainty regarding their missing relatives.
“As of now, the team is still making efforts to search for the passengers who have not been found. Hopefully, there will be good news,” Wijayanto said.
Previously, a total of 212 passengers of the KMP Putri Yasmin, which caught fire in the waters off Sekotong, West Lombok, had been successfully evacuated by Wednesday night. However, five other passengers remain in the search process.
According to information received, the five missing passengers have been reported to the Lembar Port SAR Post. They are: Yasir Arafat, Selvina Rambu Mayi, I Made Sutarjana, Slamet Yulianto, and I Ratu Agung Ayu Sekar.
