Final Apology Chat: Company Boss Sent Message to Wife Before Death at St Regis

WH (47), a company director, was found dead with a gunshot wound in a hotel room at the St Regis in South Jakarta. Police have disclosed that WH sent a final chat message containing an apology to his wife before his death.

WH’s body was first discovered in the St Regis hotel room on the evening of Wednesday, 15 July. A gunshot wound was found on the victim’s body.

Police have spoken out regarding WH’s death in the luxury hotel room. The preliminary suspicion is that WH was having problems with his wife.

‘The suspicion is that he was having a problem with his wife. So, he had a personal problem. The suspicion is a personal problem with the wife. He had done something wrong to his wife,’ explained South Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head AKP Joko Adi Wibowo when contacted on Friday, 17 July.

Joko stated that WH came to the St Regis hotel to stay. The victim was accompanied by his driver to the hotel.

Police investigations have so far revealed a message sent by WH to his wife before he was found dead. The message contained an apology from WH.

‘It was related to household matters, the husband-wife relationship. He had apologised,’ he explained.

The driver checked into WH’s room after the wife became suspicious. ‘The wife was suspicious. Then the driver received a call from the family asking him to check, so he checked,’ Joko said.

Police have found a firearm at the scene. The firearm is suspected to have been used by WH to shoot himself.

‘Developments in the investigation regarding the person found dead, a firearm was also found at the scene,’ Joko told reporters on Monday, 20 July. Police also found a firearm ownership permit matching the victim’s identity.

So far, police have stated there is no indication of involvement by other parties in WH’s death, which is suspected to be a case of suicide. However, there has been no further explanation regarding how WH’s firearm was able to enter the St Regis hotel area.
