Final Acehnese Hajj Pilgrim Receiving Treatment in Saudi Arabia Passes Away
Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The Aceh Embarkation Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) has reported that the last Acehnese pilgrim who had not yet returned home due to receiving medical care in the Holy Land of Makkah, Saudi Arabia, has passed away.
“We have received a report that the final Acehnese pilgrim undergoing treatment in Makkah died on Monday (6/7) at around 07:30 Saudi Arabian Time (WAS),” said Aceh Embarkation PPIH Chairman Arijal in Banda Aceh on Tuesday.
The pilgrim, Abdul Rahman (94) from Group 13 in Pidie Jaya Regency, was being treated at King Fahad Hospital in Madinah for low blood sugar. He had been hospitalised since Wednesday (27/5/2026).
With the passing of the late Abdul Rahman, the total number of Acehnese pilgrims who have died this year stands at 21. There are now no more Acehnese pilgrims remaining in Saudi Arabia.
Arijal noted that the 20 other pilgrims who died previously included Rapasah Puteh (86) from Group 9 in Nagan Raya Regency, who passed away at King Abdul Aziz Hospital in Makkah on Wednesday (1/7) due to respiratory problems. Mardiani Asya Adam (61) from Group 14 in Bener Meriah Regency also died from respiratory issues at King Abdul Aziz Hospital. Fatimah Basyah (76) from Group 9 in Aceh Jaya Regency died of lung disease on Tuesday (23/6).
Muhammad Thaib (75) from Group 13 in Pidie Jaya Regency died at King Abdul Aziz Hospital in Makkah due to acute respiratory distress on Monday (22/6). On the same day, another Acehnese pilgrim, Aisyah Abdullah Nanggroe (92) from Group 7 in East Aceh Regency, died on a flight while travelling back to Indonesia.
Other fatalities included M Natsir Muhammad Isa (60) from Group 14 in Pidie Jaya Regency, who died at Al Hada Armed Forces Hospital in Makkah, and Cut Salimah (81) from Group 10 in Pidie Regency, who passed away at GNP Hospital in Jeddah on Saturday (20/6). Mustafa Ismail (69) from Group 4 in Banda Aceh City died at King Abdul Aziz Hospital in Makkah on Friday (19/6) due to respiratory problems, while Busra Bustamam Jamil from Group 9 in South Aceh Regency also died in Makkah.
Dedeng Trisulo from Group 11 in Lhokseumawe City died in Madinah on Wednesday (18/6). Razali Mahmud Ben from Group 4 in Langsa City died at Al Haram Hospital in Madinah on Monday (15/6) due to disease complications. Muhammad Yusuf bin Nafi from Group 8 in Bireuen Regency died on Sunday (14/6) in Madinah.
Nurdin Ali (69) from Group 10 in Pidie Regency died of a heart attack at the Burj Al Wahda Al Mutamayyiz Hotel in Makkah on Saturday (6/6). Mahdi Muhammad Sufi (60) from Group 2 in Aceh Besar Regency, who suffered from kidney disease, died at King Abdul Aziz Hospital. Ibrahim Bin Abdul Kadir Nuh (74) from Group 10 in Pidie Regency died at King Abdul Aziz Hospital on Sunday (31/5).
Sulasry Abdul Gani (74) from Group 5 in Bireuen Regency died on Sunday (31/5) in her room at the Burj Al Wahda Almutamayiz Hotel in Makkah. Aminah Ahmad (76) from Group 13 in Pidie Jaya Regency died on Saturday (30/5) at Sheefa Hospital. Siti Salmijah (83) from Group 13 in Pidie Jaya died on Thursday (28/5) at Mina Al Wadi Hospital. Maimunah Yusuf Ali (72) from Group 13 in Aceh Tamiang died on Tuesday (26/5), and Nurwaida Muhammad Yusuf (76) from Group 8 in Bireuen Regency also died on Tuesday (26/5).
Arijal stated that the Acehnese pilgrims who died in Makkah were buried in two different locations, namely the Syariah and Saraya Suhada Al Haram cemeteries, while those who died in Madinah were interred in the Baqi cemetery.
On this occasion, Arijal also expressed his condolences and prayed that the bereaved families would be granted fortitude, patience, and sincerity in accepting God’s decree. “May their passing while performing the hajj pilgrimage be a path to His mercy and forgiveness. And may all their acts of worship, prayers, and devotion be accepted by Allah SWT,” Arijal said.
For information, all 5,463 Acehnese pilgrims have returned to their respective villages across 14 flight groups. The final group was welcomed directly by Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak.
