FIM endorses Pugeran circuit
JAKARTA (JP): The Federation of International Motocross (FIM)
approved the Pugeran Maguwoharjo circuit in Yogyakarta to host
the 11th leg of the World Motocross Championship series slated
for July 30.
"I haven't yet received written endorsement but the
representatives of the Indonesian Motocross Association (IMI) who
took part in FIM's meeting in Geneva early this month confirmed
FIM's approval," chairman of the organizing committee, Nadjib M.
Saleh was quoted by Antara as saying on Saturday.
Nadjib said that with FIM's approval announced on Friday, the
Pugeran circuit would become the first circuit in Indonesia to
host a world motocross championship. "This is a special
recognition for the host city as well as for our country," he
added.
The world championship will contest 125cc special-engine
classes for senior and junior crossers. Around 40 foreign
crossers and 10 top Indonesian crossers are expected to take
part. Four crossers from Italy and the Netherlands have
registered so far. (arf)
