'Filthy three' go to restroom
'Filthy three' go to restroom
A campaign against the United States, Australia and Canada on
Friday was taken, literally, into the restrooms at the Bali
International Convention Center, where the UN meeting was held
over the past two weeks.
Posters carrying pictures of a monster with three heads
depicting the U.S., Australia and Canada, which non-governmental
organization activists called the "filthy three" were plastered
inside and outside of the restrooms at the BICC.
"This is a creative dirty campaign," said one delegate
interviewed in front of a restroom.
It was Greenpeace activists who started the campaign against
the three countries, which are being accused of siding too much
with their multinational corporations in the negotiations in
Bali.
Greenpeace also made a local Balinese ogoh-ogoh monster effigy
with three heads depicting United States, Australia and Canada,
but could not use it was considered offensive to the Balinese
villagers. -- JP
