Jakarta (ANTARA) - The film ‘Bumi Manusia’, based on the works of Pramoedya Ananta Toer, will arrive in a longer version titled ‘Bumi Manusia Extended’. Directed by Hanung Bramantyo, the extended version will be shown in six parts, bringing to life the story of Minke, Annelies and Nyai Ontosoroh in a more complete and profound format. Director Hanung Bramantyo said the extended version is an opportunity to convey a more complete vision. In the extended version, the story not only develops, but ‘Bumi Manusia’ breathes longer. Scenes that could not be conveyed previously now find their space. The dialogue becomes deeper, emotions more intense, and the social-political layers that are the soul of Pramoedya’s work appear richer. ‘The family sees this as an effort to keep the flame of Dad’s work alive and relevant and to reach younger generations. We hope that through this serial format, more people will reread the novel and understand the big ideas about humanity, justice, and dignity,’ he said. ‘Bumi Manusia Extended’ is presented by Falcon Pictures exclusively on the KlikFilm OTT platform and will accompany the Lebaran 2026 holiday, releasing gradually twice a week, every Monday and Thursday, with the premiere episode airing on Thursday, 5 March 2026. ‘This release is part of the centenary celebrations of Pram. We believe a work as significant as Bumi Manusia has a soul that is not sufficiently conveyed in a single format. The extended version provides a wider space for contemplation for viewers to delve into Pramoedya’s thoughts. Ahead of Lebaran, we want to present viewing that is not only entertaining, but also spiritually enriching,’ said Frederica.
