Figure Who Helped Taufik Hidayat Surrender Refuses Rp250 Million Reward, Asks It Be Given to Victim

The arrest of Taufik Hidayat, the perpetrator of the confinement and abuse of a woman with the initials YTR in Bandung, remains in the public spotlight. Beyond the case itself, a reward announced by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has also drawn attention. On Tuesday morning, Dedi Mulyadi, familiarly known as KDM, announced a reward of Rp250 million for anyone who successfully provided information or helped uncover Taufik Hidayat’s whereabouts. Responding to this, Taufik’s former employer, Dadang Ahyar Ismail, spoke out. Dadang stated that if he were entitled to receive the reward, the money would be handed over to the victim, YTR. ‘If it is true that there is a statement saying whoever hands over the suspect gets Rp250 million, alhamdulillah. I will accept it and give it to the victim,’ he said. Dadang even requested that KDM could directly hand the money over to the victim. ‘So, Mr KDM, just give it directly to the victim,’ he said. Taufik’s arrest on Tuesday was inseparable from the role of Dadang Ahyar Ismail. Dadang revealed that Taufik Hidayat had contacted him a few days prior to ask for his opinion regarding the viral case. ‘Taufik called me a few days ago, saying, “What should I do, sir? I’ve suddenly gone viral all over Indonesia.” I looked and said, “Oh yes, it’s viral. What do you want to do?”’ Dadang explained. Taufik had asked him for protection, a request Dadang suspected arose because Taufik knew one of his children served as a police officer. ‘He said, “Can I ask for protection?” Perhaps because I have a child in the police force, he might have been thinking along those lines. I said, “Look, if you keep running, you’ll be on the run until you’re an old man and you’ll definitely be exhausted,”’ he said. Dadang admitted he gave Taufik several considerations to persuade him to surrender, noting that if he continued to flee, Taufik risked being caught by residents or facing firm action from the authorities.
