The proliferation of job vacancy scams in the digital sphere has prompted OpiniJob, a market research and job-search platform, to tighten user verification. The platform has implemented e-KTP verification, facial matching, and liveness detection to prevent fictitious accounts and identity misuse.

Founder and CEO of OpiniJob, Julizar, said the system is applied to ensure that platform users are genuine individuals, whether job seekers or survey respondents.

“We want to build a clean and transparent digital ecosystem. Through the integration of e-KTP and biometric verification, we aim to minimise opportunities for fictitious accounts and bots,” Julizar said in a statement.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital, together with the Ministry for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers/BP2MI, took down 7,908 fictitious overseas job advertisement contents between January and August 2026.

According to Julizar, the verification process is intended to reduce the use of false identities, automated accounts, and repeated survey completion under different identities.

In addition to job searching, OpiniJob offers paid surveys to users. Job seekers can take available surveys and receive cash rewards in accordance with the platform’s terms.

Julizar said the scheme is designed so that job seekers can still earn an income while waiting for the recruitment process.

“We want a person’s time to retain economic value. While looking for work, users can participate in available surveys and earn income according to the terms,” he said.

The platform also provides a verified respondent base for companies, research institutions, and businesses. Julizar said identity verification is necessary to improve the quality of survey data.

“In an era when data is an extremely important asset, respondent quality is one of the keys. We want to help deliver more credible data because our respondents have gone through an identity verification process,” he said.

The issue of digital job-search security has also drawn attention after West Java Regional Police uncovered an online fraud syndicate using fake job vacancies and paid assignments as its modus operandi in June 2026. In that case, four reports recorded total losses of more than Rp800 million.

The use of biometrics for identity verification is also becoming more widespread in Indonesia. Since 1 July 2026, the government has required new mobile service customers to register using facial recognition biometric verification to curb identity misuse.

However, the use of e-KTP and biometric data demands personal data protection. The company stated that user data management is carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

“Security is a shared interest. Companies need certainty that the candidates they encounter are the right individuals, while job seekers also need a safe platform to find opportunities,” Julizar said.
