FIFA changes W Cup dates in Africa
JOHANNESBURG (AFP): International soccer governing body FIFA
said Monday it was changing the dates of two vital World Cup
qualifiers in Africa.
The Group C matches featuring Algeria against Egypt in Annaba
and Namibia against Senegal in Windhoek were originally scheduled
for July 27 and July 28 respectively.
But in a surprise move, the organizers announced both games
will be played on July 21 and kick off simultaneously to prevent
Egypt having an unfair advantage.
Their match was scheduled to start four hours later than that
involving fellow contenders Senegal. FIFA hopes to announce the
new kick-off times Tuesday.
