FIFA ASEAN Cup Title Inspires Indonesian Children
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Danone Indonesia General Secretary Director Agung Laksamana said Indonesia’s victory in the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup would be a major inspiration for children to dare to dream, pursue sport and work towards their ambitions, potentially bringing honour to the nation and country.
He said AQUA, the Indonesian national football team’s official mineral water partner through its partnership with the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI), was proud of the players’ achievement, which was the result of a long struggle and growing public support.
“We are happy and proud of the Garuda squad’s efforts in making Indonesia champions of the FIFA ASEAN Cup. This victory demonstrates the power of hard work, teamwork and an unyielding spirit,” Agung said in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
He explained that the company had been fully committed to supporting the national team throughout the tournament.
One example was the “BELIEVE” human mural initiative, organised by AQUA and La Grande Indonesia during the Indonesia-Singapore match at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) in Jakarta on 25 September.
Around 6,000 supporters took part, with 2,625 of them forming a giant human mural spelling “BELIEVE”. The initiative was recorded by the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) as the largest configuration of writing formed by participants using raincoats.
AQUA Marketing Director Adisti Nirmala added that winning the title was part of the company’s longstanding effort to support Indonesian football, from youth development through to the national team.
“We are delighted to see the national team’s efforts rewarded with a title that has brought happiness to Indonesians. This achievement encourages us to continue supporting Indonesian football,” she said.
The company has also supported youth development through the AQUA Danone Nations Cup (AQUA DNC) programme. By 2019, the programme had involved more than 720,000 children from 34 provinces and 150 regencies, she added.
National team players including Evan Dimas, Egy Maulana Vikri and Andik Vermansyah have also taken part in the competition.
She said the under-10 to under-12 football competition was first held in Indonesia in 2003. Its aim is to provide a platform for developing young talent, building confidence and gaining match experience.
Indonesia’s triumph in the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup is therefore expected to encourage more children to take part in sport, pursue sporting achievements and believe that hard work can make their dreams come true.
Indonesia secured the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup title after beating Thailand 4-2 on penalties in the final at SUGBK in Jakarta on Monday (5 October). The teams had drawn 2-2 in normal time and after extra time.
