Festivities Mark Jakarta's 499th Anniversary at Monas

A number of participants took part in the ceremony for the 499th Anniversary of Jakarta at the Silang Monas Square, Jakarta, on Monday (22/6/2026). The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government held the ceremony to commemorate the city’s 499th anniversary, adopting the theme ‘Moving Towards a New Era for Jakarta’. Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung delivered a speech during the event. The festivities were enlivened by a marching band performance, a defile by participants, and a colossal drama performance. Ondel-ondel figures and dancers performing regional dances also appeared before the ceremony commenced.
