Thousands of spectators enthusiastically watched a parade welcoming the birthday of Prophet Muhammad SAW 1448 Hijriah in Wanasari Hamlet, Dauh Puri Kaja Village, North Denpasar District, Denpasar, Bali. The hamlet, commonly known as Kampung Jawa, is one of the Muslim settlements in Denpasar.

“We routinely hold this in commemoration of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad SAW. The number of participants we involved, including those joining the parade festival and the spectators, reached thousands,” said Committee Chairman Abdul Hakim when met by detikBali at the location on Sunday (23/8/2026).

The parade showcased various miniature mosques decorated with eggs, which were paraded around the area of the Baiturrahmah Grand Mosque in Wanasari Hamlet. The parade was also enlivened by Rudat art, a distinctive Muslim tradition in Bali, hadroh, and cosplay.

Abdul Hakim explained that this year’s egg decoration festival in the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday commemoration was packaged together with the celebration of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. According to him, the mosque miniatures displayed during the parade were entered into a competition and judged by a panel.

The Prophet Muhammad’s birthday commemoration in Kampung Jawa was also combined with a healthy walk, door prize distribution, and a grand religious lecture by Ki Haji Fahmi Amrullah Hadziq, the caretaker of Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School.

“At the end of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday commemoration, there will be a grand religious lecture after the Maghrib/Isha prayers, delivered by Ki Haji Fahmi Amrullah Hadziq, the grandson of Ki Haji Hasyim Asy’ari,” added Abdul Hakim.

The activity involved nine neighbourhood units (RT) in Wanasari Hamlet. According to Abdul Hakim, the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday commemoration festival also serves as a platform for fostering fellowship among residents and across religious communities in Denpasar.
