JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Industry and Trade Tunky Ariwibowo
yesterday presented five state-owned fertilizer manufacturers
ISO-9000 and ISO-14000 certificates for quality and environmental
management systems.

The five were PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur, PT Petrokimia Gresik,
PT Pupuk Kujang, PT Asean Aceh Fertilizer and PT Pupuk Iskandar
Muda.

They all received ISO-9002 certificates, part of the ISO-9000
quality management series, while Pupuk Kalimantan also received
an ISO-14001 certificate, part of the ISO-14000 environmental
management series.

The certificates are accredited by Sucofindo Registrar for
Quality Assurance, Bureau Veritas Quality International of London
and SGS International Certification Services.

The companies were awarded their certificates at different
times during the month.

Last year 127,000 companies worldwide had received the ISO-
9000 certificate, compared to only 27,000 in 1993.

The ISO-9000 certificate has been adopted as the Standard
Nasional Indonesia (SNI) 19-9000 series. The first certification
