Fertiliser Becomes Top-Selling Product at 'Red and White' Village Cooperatives
The government has recorded that the total transaction value of the Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih (KDKMP) reached Rp56.8 billion throughout 2026, with fertiliser identified as the best-selling commodity. Based on data from the KDKMP Management Information System (Simkopdes) accessed on Friday, the total transaction volume was recorded at 54,316 transactions.
NPK Phonska fertiliser was the commodity with the highest transaction value, reaching Rp15.09 billion from a volume of 8.17 million. This was followed by Urea fertiliser with a 46 per cent nitrogen content, which recorded a transaction value of Rp11.27 billion from a volume of 6.20 million.
Beyond fertiliser, KDKMP transactions were also dominated by various staple goods and subsidised items, including Bimoli cooking oil (2 litres) valued at Rp3.63 billion, medium-grade SPHP rice (5 kilogrammes) at Rp2.49 billion, regular rice at Rp1.14 billion, 3-kilogramme LPG canisters at Rp486 million, and packaged sugar (1 kilogramme) at Rp284.78 million.
Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono stated that the government intends to strengthen the role of KDKMP as a distribution centre for various subsidised goods to the public. A limited cabinet meeting led by President Prabowo Subianto has decided that the distribution of subsidised items, such as 3-kilogramme LPG, fertiliser, cooking oil, and rice, will be channelled through KDKMP. “God willing, a Presidential Regulation will be issued soon to regulate the distribution of these subsidised goods,” Ferry said.
According to Simkopdes data, a total of 83,380 KDKMP have been established to date, with 60,783 cooperatives having obtained a Business Identification Number (NIB). Meanwhile, the construction of physical KDKMP outlets is ongoing. Of the 38,050 proposed land sites, 35,856 have been verified. Among these, 470 locations have been verified but have not yet started construction, 18,855 locations are still under construction, and 16,531 outlets have reached 100 per cent construction progress.
