Ferry victims await compensation

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: The relatives of six of the 344 victims of
the Gurita ferry tragedy have not received any compensation from
state-owned insurance company PT Asuransi Kerugian Jasa Rahardja.

The six were Radin Simatupang, A. Manaf, Annavi, Jap Nam
Hiong, Cut Seniwati and Ina Yanti, Antara reported yesterday.

Relatives of the other 338 victims have already received
compensation.

The Gurita ferry sank on Jan. 19 while sailing from
Malahayati/Krueng Raya near Banda Aceh to Sabang, the main town
on Weh Island just opposite Aceh. Only 94 people were physically
accounted for in the accident -- 39 survivors and 55 bodies
fished from the sea. (swe)
