Ferry sinks in Kahayan River
PALANGKARAYA, Central Kalimantan: One person was killed and
15 others went missing when a ferry sank in Kahayan River in the
early hours of Tuesday.
The ferry, Dewi Indah, was carrying 128 people, taking them
from Kuala Kapuas to Palangka Raya. It sank near a base camp
belonging to the timber company PT Ardjuna, Antara reported.
The only victim known so far was identified as Mrs. Kusnadi,
an employee of the Kapuas Social Services Office.
As searches for the missing 15 continues, the authorities have
launched an investigation into the cause accident. (emb)
