Feri Amsari Questioned for 4 Hours Over Alleged Incitement, Reveals Surprising Facts Regarding Complainants
Constitutional law expert Feri Amsari, known for his frequent critiques of public policy, has undergone questioning regarding a report alleging incitement. During nearly four hours in the interrogation room, Feri was faced with dozens of questions by investigators from the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.
Feri’s legal counsel, Yubi Haris, stated that his client was asked approximately 25 questions, all of which pertained to a ‘halalbihalal’ gathering held in the Utan Kayu area of Jakarta. According to Haris, investigators were delving into various aspects of the event, titled ‘Before Observers are Disciplined’, which took place on 31 March 2026. The inquiry covered not only the content presented but also who invited Feri, who was in attendance, and his specific role and capacity during the activity.
In his statement, Feri explained that he attended merely as an invited guest. During the event, he was asked to share his views as a resource person in a discussion forum. One topic scrutinised by investigators was Feri’s explanation regarding the mechanism for presidential impeachment. However, according to his legal counsel, that explanation arose following questions from participants and was delivered within an academic and constitutional framework. ‘Mr Feri only explained the normative mechanism of impeachment as regulated in the Constitution,’ Haris said.
Investigators also sought clarification regarding several statements contested in the report. Nevertheless, Feri’s side maintained that all material presented referred to applicable legal provisions and did not deviate from the constitutional corridor.
Notably, the interrogation revealed that the complainants did not personally witness the event that forms the basis of the report. Yubi revealed that four individuals reported Feri to the Metro Jaya Regional Police, consisting of one person claiming to be an NGO activist from East Jakarta and three others claiming to be students. However, the report was reportedly made based on video clips circulating on social media.
