Ferdy Sambo Continues S2 Education from Prison Since July 2024, Majoring in Theology

JAKARTA - Former Head of Polri’s Professional and Security Division, now an inmate at Class II A Cibinong Prison, Ferdy Sambo is known to have continued his Master’s studies since July 2024. According to the Higher Education Database, Ferdy Sambo is registered as a student at Sekolah Tinggi Teologi Global Glow Indonesia Jakarta from 1 July 2024. “Date of entry: 1 July 2024,” states the website pddikti.kemdikbud.go.id, as quoted by Kompas.com on Thursday (14/5/2026). He is said to have entered as a new learner in the Master’s in Theology programme. As of now, Ferdy Sambo’s status as a Master’s student is still recorded as active. Among several Christian inmates at Class II A Cibinong Prison, Ferdy Sambo expressed interest in taking up the scholarship. “Cibinong Prison has developed a cooperation with Sekolah Tinggi Global Glow Indonesia (STGGI) for providing S1 and S2 Theology scholarship programmes for Christian inmates, one of whom is interested in following the programme is Ferdy Sambo,” said Rika when contacted by reporters on Wednesday (13/5/2026). Rika stated that the lectures are conducted online from within Cibinong Prison. “This programme is part of efforts to foster and improve the quality of human resources for inmates so they are ready to return and contribute positively to society,” she said. Rika added that Article 9 letter C of Law No. 22 of 2022 on Correctional Services stipulates that all inmates have the right to education. “Such as catching up on packages A, B, and C which have been followed by 88 inmates since 2024, up to higher education,” she said.
