The Jakarta Post, Jakarta
The 2003 Far East Model Car Association (FEMCA) Championships flags off on Tuesday at the Jakarta International Twin Circuit in the Bung Karno Sports Center, Senayan, Central Jakarta, a report said.
The opening ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m., but qualifying rounds begin at 8:30 a.m., the organizing committee said in a statement which was made available to the media on Monday.
The race will be held at a special track surface of fine-grade asphalt supersensite, the traction of which is excellent for 1:8 and 1:10 scale nitro cars.
The total length of the track is approximately 300 meters. An internationally-recognized AMB lap counting system is being used at the track.
The finals will be held this Saturday.
The FEMCA championships were initially scheduled to be held in October last year, but the organizing committee was forced to postpone the event in the wake of the Bali bombing incident. The incident killed more than 190 people, mostly foreigners.
