The case involving the dissemination of an explicit video implicating students in Banyuwangi, East Java, continues to have repercussions for those allegedly involved. One female student, a pupil at a madrasah, has chosen to withdraw from her school. The decision was made by the family following discussions with the madrasah, including the counselling team, and was considered a step to protect the student’s psychological condition while preventing additional pressure within the educational environment. Chaironi Hidayat, Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Office in Banyuwangi, confirmed that the student has not been registered at the school since 21 July 2026. The withdrawal was a request from the parents. “Following mediation and in-depth consideration with the counselling team, the parents of the alleged individual ultimately decided to submit a letter of withdrawal for their child from the madrasah. This step was taken in consideration of safeguarding the student’s psychological condition and maintaining a conducive learning environment at the madrasah,” Chaironi said in a statement. The request was officially approved by the madrasah on the same day at around 12.00 WIB. A primary consideration was anticipating the possibility of bullying that could further worsen the student’s mental state. The madrasah had previously taken several steps after receiving information about the circulation of the recording linked to one of its students. The first report was received on 19 July 2026 at around 20.00 WIB. The Banyuwangi Ministry of Religious Affairs office emphasised that the events recorded in the video took place outside the school environment and supervision. Therefore, the incident is not related to learning activities or official madrasah events. Nevertheless, the impact of the recording’s dissemination was felt by the educational community, especially as content allegedly involving a minor has circulated across various digital platforms and social media. The Ministry of Religious Affairs and the madrasah have urged the public not to prolong the matter by storing or further disseminating the recording.
