Female Student at UIN Suska Riau Slashed by Fellow Student Before Thesis Defence Hearing
A female student at Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau (UIN Suska Riau) was slashed by a fellow male student on campus on Thursday, 26 February. The victim was waiting for her thesis proposal defence hearing at the faculty.
One student, Dimas, reported that the victim was waiting for her hearing in the Sharia and Law Faculty when the perpetrator attacked her with an axe, preventing other students from helping. The attack is estimated to have occurred at approximately 08:30.
“Initially the victim was waiting for her proposal defence in the Sharia and Law Faculty room. We were studying in the room next door. When we looked out, we saw the perpetrator slashing the victim in front of the room. We did not dare help because the perpetrator was carrying an axe,” Dimas said.
Campus security subsequently apprehended the perpetrator after the weapon attack.
AKP Anggi Rian Diansyah, Head of Criminal Investigation at Pekanbaru Police Station, reported that the perpetrator had been secured at Binawidya Police Station. Police are investigating the perpetrator’s motive. However, the motive is suspected to be related to a romantic relationship. The police are continuing further investigation.
“The perpetrator has been secured at Binawidya Police Station along with evidence of the sharp weapon in the form of an axe and machete,” said AKP Anggi.
The victim is currently receiving treatment at Bhayangkara Hospital in Pekanbaru following wounds from the slashing on her head and hands. The victim is identified as Faradhila Ayu Pramesi, 23 years old. The suspect, identified as R, is 21 years old. The victim is expected to be transferred to Arifin Achmad General Regional Hospital for further treatment.
