Female Student at UIN Suska Riau Attacked with an Axe and Held Hostage Before Her Thesis Defence
A female student at UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim (Suska) Riau, Faradilla Ayu Pramesti, was attacked with an axe by a man while waiting for her thesis defence. The student was also held hostage by the perpetrator.
As reported by detikSumut on Thursday, 26 February 2026, a video showed the perpetrator holding the victim, who was covered in blood.
Students in the vicinity did not dare to approach because the perpetrator was holding a sharp weapon.
Another video showed the perpetrator being secured by security officers after a few moments. However, the victim was already covered in blood and wearing a white shirt.
A representative of the lecturers at UIN Suska Riau, Rony Riansyah, confirmed the incident. The victim was attacked at around 08:00 WIB in the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Law building.
“The incident occurred when the victim was about to take her final exam at around 08:00 WIB. While the victim was preparing, the perpetrator came and immediately attacked her with an axe and held her hands, so the victim’s hands were injured,” said Rony Riansyah.
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pekanbaru Police, AKP Anggi Rian, also confirmed that the perpetrator had been arrested. The police are currently conducting a crime scene investigation.
“Yes, that’s right, we are currently conducting a crime scene investigation,” said Anggi briefly.
