Female Parking Attendant in Brebes Shares Rp100,000 Reward, Foils Rp3.6 Billion Theft
Kusriyati (65), a female parking attendant in Brebes, received a Rp100,000 thank-you payment after foiling a robbery attempt targeting Rp3.6 billion inside a Pajero Sport vehicle. She then divided the money among three other people.
Met on Jalan Ahmad Yani in Brebes, Kusriyati revealed the money came from the victim, Kliwon Alwawan, as a reward for her heroic actions. She immediately shared it with three colleagues: Farid, Wawan (a fellow parking attendant), and Udin, a motorcycle taxi driver.
"I was given Rp100,000 by the owner of the money. Then I split it four ways—myself, two fellow parking attendants, and the motorcycle taxi driver. We each got around Rp25,000," she said when met at her workplace.
Kusriyati added that despite successfully preventing the theft of billions of rupiah, she did not expect any reward. She said the owner gave her the money as a token of gratitude after confirming his cash was intact.
"I didn’t ask for it. I was suddenly given Rp100,000 as a thank-you," she continued.
The theft attempt occurred on Monday, 15 June, at around 3 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. Kliwon, a resident of Kluwut Village in Bulakamba District, Brebes, explained he had just withdrawn Rp3.6 billion from a bank.
