Female motorcycle snatching in Bekasi: one suspect arrested thanks to victim's husband
Bekasi, Kompas.com – One of three perpetrators in a motorbike-snatching incident against a woman identified as H (28) has been arrested after the act was foiled by the victim’s husband, AT (28), on Jalan Raya Pekayon, Jakasetia, Bekasi Selatan, on Tuesday, 3 March 2026, at around 03:00 WIB. ‘As a result of the incident, one of the perpetrators who was captured is being processed at Bekasi Selatan Police Station on suspicion of theft with violence,’ said Bekasi Selatan Police Chief Kompol Dedi Herdiana when contacted by Kompas.com on Friday, 6 March 2026. The arrested perpetrator is KR (23), along with a sickle and the motorcycle used in the attack, which have been brought to Bekasi Selatan Police Station. The two other perpetrators who fled are still being sought. Police have conducted searches at several locations but have not yet located them. The incident began when H was riding a Honda Beat motorcycle with plate number B 3550 CSS from Pekayon toward Jatiasih after finishing work. Her husband, AT, followed in a car. As they were passing the scene, the three perpetrators, riding together on a motorcycle, blocked her. ‘One of the perpetrators pressed the victim and attempted to snatch the motorcycle, pointing a sickle at the victim’s neck,’ Dedi said. Upon seeing this in the rear-view mirror, AT immediately turned his car around and rammed the attackers. ‘The victim’s husband then rammed the attackers until one of them fell,’ Dedi added. The suspects are now charged with theft with violence under Indonesian Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Penal Code, including Article 479 of Law 1/2023, as well as under the Emergency Law provisions relating to possession of a sharp weapon.
