The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection is coordinating with the UPTD PPA of South Tangerang City, the East Ciputat Police and the South Tangerang Police regarding the handling of the case of a high school student who was struck by a KRL at Jurangmangu Station, South Tangerang.

“The Assistant Deputy for AMPK Services team at the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection has carried out initial coordination with the UPTD PPA of South Tangerang City and monitoring through the media,” said the Deputy for Special Child Protection at the Ministry, Titi Eko Rahayu, when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday.

She expressed deep sorrow over the incident. “We express our deepest condolences on the death of the victim, and hope that similar incidents will not be repeated in the future,” she said.

The East Ciputat Police together with the South Tangerang Police are currently still conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the victim’s death, including examining a number of witnesses. The Ministry is still awaiting the results of the investigation.

Previously, on Monday afternoon (10/8), the victim (14), who was wearing a white and grey uniform, was struck by a KRL at Jurangmangu Station, South Tangerang. The victim was found by station security officers on the KRL track on the Tanah Abang - Rangkasbitung route.

The victim’s body was then secured and taken to the South Tangerang City Regional General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The following day, the victim was buried in Pondok Ranji, East Ciputat, South Tangerang.

The victim was known to reside in Pondok Ranji and was registered as a first-year high school student or equivalent.
