Jakarta, VIVA – A security guard at the residence suspects that the convex mirror and fence of former Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla’s home were struck by a female driver with the initials AP (35), who was allegedly intoxicated.

“The person driving this car was probably drunk. So she hit this pole, and then her car went straight through,” said Alim, a security guard at Jusuf Kalla’s (JK) residence, speaking to journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Alim said the incident occurred at approximately 04:00 Western Indonesian Time, with the driver coming from the direction of Kemang. The Hyundai Santa Fe was reportedly carrying one woman and two men.

The single-vehicle accident damaged the road’s convex mirror and the property fence. “So what was damaged was the mirror, then the fence. It collapsed inward,” he said.

He confirmed that JK’s residence is currently occupied by his child. The driver is presently undergoing mediation with the relevant parties.

“So for the time being, mediation is still in progress,” he said.

Based on observations at the scene at approximately 15:30 Western Indonesian Time, two workers were seen repairing the black fence damaged in the accident.

The atmosphere on Jalan Brawijaya IV appeared quiet, with few motor vehicles passing through.

Police confirmed the single-vehicle accident (loss of control) involving a car with registration number B 2931 SZM driven by AP (35).

The driver admitted to negligence and has agreed to fully compensate all damages resulting from her actions. Following the incident, the driver surrendered her vehicle registration certificate and driving licence.

Previously, police suspected that the driver, identified with the initials HP (35), who crashed into the fence of JK’s residence in the Kebayoran Baru area of South Jakarta, had been drowsy at the time.

Police confirmed there were no injuries or fatalities as a result of the incident. Police are also continuing to facilitate mediation between both parties.
